Stepping into Awesomeness

Whenever you start something new,you always have excitement and nervousness at the same time.I was going through all these feelings when a mail confirming my selection appeared in my inbox stating that I am selected for a Web Development cohort arranged by SkillValley.

Fast forward to 8th August when this cohort started,I met a lot of wonderful people who were both working professionals and students. We were all so excited because sessions were announced on the same day from various industry experts. A brief about that .....

1 : Session on Brainstorming

A problem statement was allotted to every team.For solving a problem,thinking about and brainstorming on it is important and hence a session on Brainstorming was scheduled for all participants. The session was delivered by Ayush Patro who is himself a founder.The key takeaways from the session were:

• Brainstorming is just heightened awareness.
• Read Listen Absorb.
• The main and biggest challenge is to identify and understand the problem clearly.
• Always brainstorm with team on a shared file and Let everything out.
• Always clear any doubt that you have.Never assume stuff.
• Try to apply as much constraints as you can while brainstorming,this way the product would be more defined.
• Brainstorming should be for making a manifesto but before structuring you should always scribble,ask,research.

2 : Session on System Design

If we have to make a software it takes a lot of planning and thinking goes around.To solve our problem statement we had to design a system.We were fortunate enough to get started on the topic by a well versed person in the same topic Abhishek.It was technical session and introduced us to the topic System Design. We got learn about a lot of topics like what is LLD and HLD and difference between them,what are different aspect fo scalablity and other fun stuff.

3 : Session on Basic of Design Principles

Any software without User Interface is abysmal.Since we are suppposed to make a full fledged web application in this cohort. Frontend is an essential part for which UI design is the crucial part. Hence a session on Basics of UI design principles was arranged for all participants. The session was given by Abheshek Saha who is building a startup. He showered us with facts and points which were unheard of.The learnings from these session consist of the Golden Rule,how to choose colour palletes according to product type,How to design as according to geographical and culture conditions along with the helpful resources to help us all with UI design.

This was all about the first exciting week at the SkillValley Web dev cohort.Hoping to get more such awesome session and learning. Keep Hustling!!!
